I know Putin’s generals fear he’s DYING so won’t obey orders to nuke West
AN order by Vladimir Putin to strike Ukraine or the West with nuclear weapons will not be obeyed by his top commanders, says a Russia expert.
Christo Grozev said Putin’s leading military and security officials as well as oligarch cronies know the ailing despot is either dying or is gravely ill.
The investigative journalist was confident his generals would not risk being hauled before a modern equivalent of the Nuremberg trials for unleashing Armageddon.
Nor would they obey a Putin order to kill opposition foes, he claimed.
Grozev, who works with Bellingcat, an investigative outfit, said on TV: “I can’t speak without information, but we know that oligarchs from his closest circle claim it.
“We also know that the Lubyanka [FSB secret service] sent a letter about a month ago to all regional FSB chiefs.
“It said: ‘If you hear about him having a very serious illness, we insist you do not pay attention’.
“So they all thought this means the exact opposite.”
Grozev added: “So I think it doesn’t matter that much if he is dying or gravely ill, what matters is people around him think so.
“This changes the formula, this is a factor in deciding just how loyal people feel they should be to him.
“I believe this factor – that people close to him think that he is not all right health-wise – diminishes the risk of them obeying his order to kill foes, like they did in the past.
“The same reason makes it unlikely that someone will press the nuclear button, with the understanding that if he is gone in three or six months, who will protect them from a trial in Nuremberg?”
TV interviewer Dmitry Gordon had asked Grozev: “We watch [Putin] spasmodically clutching the corner of the table with his right arm during a meeting with [Defence Minister Sergei] Shoigu.
“And his jacket being too high and tight around his neck, his stumbling, limping gait…
“Is he sick, or do we just so much want him to be sick?”
It comes as reports swirl of the evil despot suffering from early stage Dementia.
Other reports suggest the ill-looking Russian leader could have Parkinson’s and cancer after he was stopped travelling with a thyroid cancer specialist.
And one Kremlin insider said Putin was set to go under the knife.
The sick despot could be killed in a coup over the shambolic Ukraine invasion as he has “no future” if the war doesn’t succeed.
Former US general Jack Keane said Putin would “do anything” to stay in power as he knows the alternative would be his “demise”.
The former Vice Chief of Staff of the US Army told Fox News: “He’s all about staying in power. That’s his motivation. He will do anything to stay in power.
“The alternative, he knows full well, by a successor who doesn’t agree with him, could mean the end of him – his demise.
“He’s fighting to stay in power and he’s determined, I think, to still accomplish his goals even though his focus is in the south [of Ukraine].
“He still wants to take the country over, topple the regime – and I take Putin seriously. I think many of us discounted him for a number of years, but he is about returning to the Russian Empire.
“I think as long as he’s in power, he will be in pursuit of it.”
He added: “He has no future beyond him being the president of Russia. That’s a fact.”
