In April, Kia surpassed the 10 million mark in cumulative vehicle sales in the US market.

According to the US Sales Corporation (KA) on the 3rd (local time), Kia has surpassed 10 million in cumulative sales in 29 years since it first delivered to customers in 1993. Total sales in April were 59,063 units. Among them, electric vehicle sales are the highest on a monthly basis.

Vice President Eric Watson said, “Despite the difficulties of the automobile industry as a whole, Kia’s cumulative sales exceeded 10 million units, and the sales of its electrified model lineup achieved the best performance ever.” “With the successful launch of the 5th-generation Sportage Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and strong sales of electrified models, we are solidifying our leading position in two of the most important and popular sectors.”

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Company recorded its second-ever retail sales in the US market last month. According to the US Sales Corporation (HMA), retail sales in April were 61,668 units, and electric vehicle sales increased 68% compared to the same month last year.

Senior Vice President Randy Parker said, “With the Ioniq 5 and the powerful hybrid and plug-in hybrid model lineup, electric vehicle sales have increased significantly.”

Meanwhile, total sales of Hyundai Motor (including Genesis) and Kia in April were 125,770 units, down 16.7% from the same month last year. The industry believes that the sales volume has decreased due to the continued supply and demand shortage of semiconductors. However, it is evaluated that the performance is good compared to the decrease in sales of other automakers whose earnings have been published so far, such as Toyota (-22.7%), Honda (-40.4%), and Subaru (-25.5%).
