Corona: Government pushes curfew backwards
Despite the exploding corona numbers, the government is taking new relaxation steps. As Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) announced in a press conference scheduled at short notice, before the start of the semester break, i.e. on February 5th, the curfew, which is currently set at 10 p.m., will be postponed to midnight. A week later, the 2G restrictions in retail will be lifted. A week later, the same step follows in gastronomy.
There is also a little relaxation in the “events area”. Instead of 25 people, 50 can now come together again and that on February 5th. There should also be new rules in schools, but they will not be announced until next week. The easing was justified by the fact that despite the high number of cases caused by Omikron, the situation in the hospitals is stable.
