Daimler Truck will increase sales by a fifth in 2021
FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)–Daimler Truck benefited last year from the recovery in its most important markets, especially in the first half of the year. As the company announced, it increased its sales in 2021 by around a fifth to 455,000 units. In the second half of the year, however, growth was limited by supply bottlenecks, especially for heavy commercial vehicles in the USA and Europe.
The Mercedes-Benz segment showed growth of 20 percent to 141,000 units. The Trucks North America division recorded slightly weaker growth with an increase of 17 percent to 162,000 vehicles. In contrast, Trucks Asia was able to increase sales by 30 percent to 143,000 units. Sales in the Buses segment stagnated at 19,000 vehicles.
