Pharma giant: Unilever offers 60 billion euros for GlaxoSmithKline’s consumer goods division

London The Anglo-Dutch consumer goods group Unilever confirmed its interest in the consumer goods division of pharmaceutical giant Glaxosmithkline on Saturday. The Sunday Times had previously reported that Unilever, known for Langnese ice cream, Knorr sauces and Signal toothpaste, had offered around 50 billion pounds (60 billion euros).

However, GlaxoSmithkline and Pfizer, which hold a minority stake in the division, dismissed this as too low. “GSK Consumer Healthcare is a leader in the attractive area of consumer healthcare and would be a good strategic fit with Unilever as it continues to transform its portfolio,” Unilever said. However, a possible agreement is open.
