Porsche with a significant increase in sales in 2021
STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) – The sports car manufacturer Porsche recorded a significant boost in sales in 2021. Worldwide, 301,915 cars were sold last year, 11 percent more than in 2020, as sales director Detlev von Platen announced on Wednesday in Stuttgart. “Demand remains high and our order books are well filled.” The Volkswagen subsidiary is therefore starting this year full of vigor and confidence and in all regions around the world.
The Volkswagen (Volkswagen (VW) vz) subsidiary achieved the greatest increase in America last year. In the USA, the number of sales increased by 22 percent to 70,025 vehicles. China remained the largest single market. In 2021, 95,671 cars were sold there. That was an increase of eight percent over the previous year. On the home market in Germany, sales increased by nine percent to 28,565 vehicles.
By 2030, Porsche intends to achieve an electric share of 80 percent in its new vehicle fleet – adding up all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Last year, according to a spokeswoman, the share was 24 percent – around 14 percent were purely electrically powered cars and 10 percent were plug-in hybrids with an internal combustion engine and an electric motor./ols/DP/mis
