GERMANY: – FURTHER RECREATION – The Dax should build on its previous day’s gains on Wednesday. The broker IG valued the German leading index around two hours before the Xetra launch a good 0.8 percent higher to 16 062 points. This should bring it back above the psychologically important mark of 16,000 points. Good international guidelines are helpful: The Dow Jones Industrial had gone out of trading the night before in New York at almost the daily high and in Asia the stock exchanges rose. The focal point of the action should now be the inflation figures from the USA on Wednesday. According to the expert Thomas Altmann from QC Partners, a further rise in the inflation rate is consensus on the floor “But this also means that a further rise in inflation has already been priced in. The annual rate may possibly have a 7 in front of the decimal point for the first time since 1982” wrote the expert in the morning. What remains to be seen, however, is the reaction of investors if inflation is well above expectations. Concerns about a faster than anticipated tightening of monetary policy in the US had dragged the stock markets down significantly in the past week.

USA: – PROFITS – After catching up the day before, prices on the US stock market continued to rise on Tuesday. According to US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, investors focused on the economic strength of the United States and a little less on the risks for stocks from rising interest rates. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 , which had already been in positive territory at the close of trading the day before after slipping to its lowest level since mid-October, now gained 1.47 percent to 15,844.12 points. The leading index Dow Jones Industrial advanced 0.51 percent to 36,252.02 points. The market-wide S&P 500 posted an increase of 0.92 percent to 4713.07 points.

ASIA: – PROFITS – With a tailwind from Wall Street, the Asian stock markets recovered strongly in some cases towards the middle of the week. The Japanese leading index Nikkei 225 closed with an increase of 1.9 percent. The CSI 300 with the 300 most important companies from mainland China rose recently by around one percent and the Hang-Seng index in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region grew by 2.7 percent.
