Zeiss and Siemens Energy plan to cooperate on 3D printing processes – shares in the red
The companies Siemens Energy and Zeiss want to found a joint company for the production of parts using the 3D printing process.
It is an alliance between the IQR (Industrial Quality and Research) division of the Zeiss optics group, based in Oberkochen, and the Munich-based Siemens Energy group, as reported by “Welt am Sonntag”. A Zeiss spokesman confirmed the plans on request.
As can be seen from a registration of the project with the Federal Cartel Office on December 23, 2021, the two companies want to work together on the so-called additive manufacturing of metal and plastic parts. This process is intended to produce prototypes, tools and production parts. According to the information, a platform for the production of parts using the 3D printing process is also to be created.
While the Zeiss share is currently losing 2.44 percent to EUR 166.10 via XETRA, the Siemens Energy share is down 0.8 percent to EUR 22.41.
