FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – The course of the euro stayed in the $ 1.13 area on Thursday. In the morning, the common currency was last traded at 1.1298 dollars (dollar rate), which is roughly lower than the previous evening. The European Central Bank (ECB) last set the reference rate on Wednesday afternoon at $ 1.1319.

The euro only came under pressure for a short time in the morning and fell to a daily low of $ 1.1285. The cause is a dollar strength, which had weighed heavily on the euro the day before and continued to have an effect in the morning. The American currency benefited from the publication of the minutes of the latest interest rate meeting of the US Federal Reserve. The transcript, published on Wednesday, shows that Fed members rate the inflation trend as higher and more stubborn than previously assumed. The market took this as an indication of a more rapid exit from the loose monetary policy, which supported the dollar.

The euro was supported by surprisingly good economic data from Germany. In November, industrial orders recovered more strongly than expected from a setback in October.
