Düsseldorf A reputable employer, above-average pay, plus one day a week for his own projects: the terms that the applicant had negotiated were extremely attractive. Nevertheless, he canceled the consulting firm KPMG – as a SAP consultant with several years of professional experience, he had alternatives.

This is unfortunate for Gerrit Bojen: The KPMG partner supports banks and insurance companies in digitization projects. Since many companies in the financial services industry are introducing a new generation of SAP software, he is constantly on the lookout for personnel. “It’s a labor market,” says the business IT specialist. “At the moment, good SAP consultants are worth their weight in gold.”

It is a special variant of the shortage of skilled workers that is likely to become even more serious: Companies in a wide variety of industries are currently planning to switch to S / 4 Hana, a SAP system for managing business processes.
