XETRA-SCHLUSS / DAX continues upward trend – S&T volatile

FRANKFURT (Dow Jones) – The prices on the German stock market continued to rise on Tuesday. With thin sales, institutional investors are likely to have pushed prices further up. The London Stock Exchange was also closed on the reporting day. In the retail sector, meanwhile, one wonders how sustainable this development could be if the sellers probably returned to the market at the beginning of the year. The DAX gained 0.8 percent to 15,964 points.

Aroundtown extends share buyback program

The news situation was again very thin. Market participants consider the fact that the real estate group Aroundtown (+ 1.5%) has extended its current share buyback program by six months to June 30, 2022 as slightly supportive. Aroundtown announced in March that it would be spending up to EUR 500 million on the repurchase of a maximum of 100 million shares by December 31, 2021. It is not known how many shares have been acquired so far.

For Bijou Brigitte, it went up by 3.2 percent after receiving a bridging aid of around 20.4 million euros. Like the entire industry, the company has been suffering from the restrictions due to Omikron since the outbreak of the corona crisis and currently. The German Retail Association (HDE) recently spoke of “existential fear” in retail. The current profits are no more than a consolation for shareholders. The paper has not recovered from the price slump last year.

S&T hires Deloitte to do the testing

S&T developed volatile. After gaining at the start of trading, the stock was 4.6 percent behind at the end. The company has responded to the allegations of the short-seller Viceroy Research. The auditing company Deloitte was commissioned to carry out an external forensic examination of the material allegations raised by Viceroy. After the recent interim rally in the paper, investors now appeared to be reaping profits.
