Wall Street closes mixed, the Dow Jones advances 0.26%

Wall Street closed this Tuesday in mixed terrain after a day of little movement, with an advance of 0.26% on the Dow Jones Industrials but without a new record on the S&P 500, which ended in the red.

According to data at the end of the session on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones added 95.83 points, to 36 thousand 398.21 units, while the selective S&P 500 down 0.10% or 4.84 integers, up to 4 thousand 786.35 points.

The Nasdaq Composite Index, which brings together the most important technology companies, decreased by 0.56% or 89.54 units, up to 15 thousand 781.72 integers.

The New York market seemed to relax after the good session yesterday, in which the S&P 500 reached an all-time high, fueling the tradition of the “Santa Claus Rally”, the stock market surge at the end of the year.

Most sectors posted gains, led by firms from public services (0.93%), essential goods (0.62%) and basic materials (0.56%).

The most affected were the technology sector (-0.59%) and communications (-0.29%).

Among the 30 listed on the Dow Jones, the promotions of Walt Disney (1.54%), Boeing (1.48%) and Walmart (1.45%) stood out. Salesforce (-1.08%), Nike (-0.69%) and Apple (-0.58%) closed lower.
