The seven-day incidence in Germany is increasing slightly

Status: December 27th, 2021 7:14 am

The health authorities have reported 13,908 new infections to the Robert Koch Institute – the incidence has increased slightly compared to the previous day and is now 222.7. Because of the holidays, the numbers are only partially meaningful.

The seven-day incidence has increased slightly compared to the previous day after falling for a long time. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week at 222.7. For comparison: the previous day the value was 220.7. A week ago the nationwide incidence was 315.4 (previous month: 340.7).

Incomplete data due to public holidays

The health authorities in Germany reported 13,908 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. The RKI points out that less test and reporting activity can be expected during the holidays and at the turn of the year. Therefore, the officially reported number of cases could only show an incomplete picture of the corona situation in Germany.

According to the new information, 69 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 180 deaths. The number of people who died with or with the involvement of a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rises to 110,433.

More than seven million cases since the start of the pandemic

In Germany, more than seven million corona infections have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic. The RKI put the total number at 7,005,289 – 6,156,500 are considered to be recoveries. The actual number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected and therefore not recorded.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was given by the RKI on Friday as 4.55 (Thursday with 4.55). The value is not collected on weekends.
