Significant growth in charging points for e-vehicles in 2021
BONN (dpa-AFX) – In 2021, the Federal Network Agency recorded a significant increase in the number of publicly accessible charging points for electric vehicles reported to it. As of December 1st, the number had risen by 11,600 to 51,000 within a year, the authority announced on Wednesday in Bonn. In total, around 1.5 gigawatts of public charging capacity are now installed (previous month: 1.1 gigawatts). According to the information, a good 2900 charging points enable very fast charging with a charging capacity of 150 kilowatts and higher. A year ago it was only just under 1400.
More than 3,500 operators reported charging facilities to the authorities. The 50 largest of these operated around half of all charging points. With around 3200, most operators would have fewer than ten charging facilities. They often made the charging infrastructure available locally, for example in retail stores or at company headquarters.
The new federal government wants to massively expand the charging station infrastructure. There should be one million publicly accessible charging points by 2030./tob/DP/jha
