BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) – Chancellor Olaf Scholz felt reminded of the coalition negotiations with the Greens and the FDP at his first EU summit. “They were also very long,” he said on Friday night, after a 14-hour marathon of negotiations. “That’s why I wasn’t really that surprised that it was the same here as usual.”
For most of the questions, however, there was a constructive struggle to find solutions. You can already see that “something is growing together in Europe, especially when we have to defend ourselves against external threats,” said the SPD politician, referring to the crises in Belarus or Ukraine. In this respect, the summit was a good experience. “I felt good.” / Mfi / DP / zb
