SWR and BR found a joint software company

MUNICH (dpa-AFX) – Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) are founding a joint software company. The subsidiary is scheduled to start on January 1, 2022 and will take care of the broadcasters’ digital products such as apps, as the BR announced on Thursday.

The company is called “PUB – Public Value Technologies” and will have its headquarters in Munich with 80 employees. The broadcasting council at BR approved the project on Thursday, SWR bodies had already said yes before that. The whole thing is now subject to the approval of the BR Board of Directors.

BR director Katja Wildermuth said: “The need for media-specific software for apps, websites or platforms is increasing enormously.” They shaped the user experience and thus also the success of the offers.
