Lindner: Countries should take full advantage of corona measures
Christian Lindner (FDP).
BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – FDP chairman Christian Lindner calls on the federal states to take advantage of the legally possible measures to combat the corona pandemic. “With contact restrictions and regulations for distance and hygiene, the states have further legal options. Leisure events can also be restricted. Many measures have not yet been exhausted. This should now be done urgently,” he told the “Bild” newspaper (Friday).
According to the Infection Protection Act submitted by the SPD, Greens and FDP, the federal states still have the option of imposing or maintaining certain measures such as mask requirements, contact restrictions and bans on events in leisure, culture and sport. In contrast, travel bans, exit restrictions, and school and business closings are no longer permitted tools for fighting pandemics.
However, there is a transition period until December 15: If countries still order more far-reaching measures according to the previous legal situation, these can continue to apply until mid-December at the latest.
The corona situation is very dangerous, said Lindner. “Every day counts in order to avert dangers and to gain time for vaccinations and boosters.” / Rew / DP / he
