BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – The traffic light coalition of the SPD, the Greens and the FDP wants to include climate protection more strongly than before in the decisions of the federal government. “We will make climate protection a cross-cutting task,” says the coalition agreement between the three parties presented on Wednesday.
According to this, every ministry should in future examine its draft laws for their climate impact and compatibility with national climate protection goals. A so-called “climate check” is to be introduced. This means that future bills must be provided with a justification that ensures compliance with the climate requirements.
According to the contract, the Ampel partners want to “consistently develop the Federal Climate Protection Act” in 2022 and initiate an immediate climate protection program with all the necessary laws, ordinances and measures. “All sectors will have to make a contribution: transport, construction and housing, power generation, industry and agriculture,” says the coalition agreement.
As before, compliance with the climate targets in these economic sectors should be subject to annual monitoring./faa/DP/stw
