BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – The FDP parliamentary group is advising on a possible vaccination requirement in facilities with people particularly at risk from Corona. An expert hearing began on Friday morning, in which the chairwoman of the German Ethics Council, Alena Buyx, also took part, as a spokesman for the German press agency said. According to the initial statements, there was an “intensive debate at a high level”. The debate took place digitally.
At the Prime Minister’s Conference on Thursday, the federal states asked the federal government to introduce compulsory vaccinations for all employees who have contact with particularly vulnerable people in certain facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes. The question of compulsory vaccination has been controversial in the past.
The FDP chairman Christian Lindner recently did not rule out compulsory corona vaccination for certain professional groups and facilities. “We are open on this question,” he said on Wednesday at the “Economic Summit” of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” in Berlin.
An FDP parliamentary group spokesman said at the beginning of the week: “A parliamentary debate about vaccination requirements in facilities with vulnerable groups should have been held earlier. Because an explicit vaccination requirement would only have any effects a few weeks after vaccination, if immunization occurs.” A “carefully prepared legislative procedure in view of the significance of the encroachment on fundamental rights” is necessary for a decision ./ cn / DP / mis
