Denmark wants to introduce compulsory corona passports for government employees

COPENHAGEN (dpa-AFX) – According to the wishes of the Danish government, state employers should be able to demand a corona passport from their employees in the future. Health Minister Magnus Heunicke said at a press conference on Friday that parliament should vote on a corresponding law. The measure has been agreed with the trade unions and the employers’ organization. With the passport you can prove that you have been vaccinated against Corona, have recovered or have tested negative.

In Denmark, the corona numbers have risen rapidly in recent weeks despite good vaccination rates. More than 4,000 new cases had been registered on Friday. This is the highest number since December 2020. Around 380 people were treated in hospital for a Covid 19 infection. The incidence was 388. “If we don’t react, both the number of infections and the pressure on hospitals will increase,” says Heunicke.

It is also planned to test children from the first grade. There are outbreaks in 221 schools across the country./sh/DP/ngu
