DÜSSELDORF (dpa-AFX) – The federal-state round to fight the dramatic increase in the number of corona infections is to come together next Thursday. The chairman of the Prime Minister’s Conference, North Rhine-Westphalia’s Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU), announced this on Thursday on Twitter. A government spokesman in Düsseldorf confirmed the date at the request of the German Press Agency.
“It’s good that there is now finally readiness on all sides for this urgently needed vote. Corona has no government break,” wrote Wüst. In agreement with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the SPD side, he would like to invite you to the appointment. The corona situation was getting worse and more and more people became ill. “That cannot leave us indifferent. The federal government and the states are jointly responsible for an effective and coordinated procedure,” explained Wüst.
The Executive Vice Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) had previously announced deliberations from the federal and state governments on the corona situation for the coming week in the Bundestag. The Executive Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) had also spoken out vehemently in favor of such a conference of prime ministers ./bk/beg/DP/jha
