Press: Germany wants to declare Austria a high risk area
BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Because of high corona incidences, the federal government wants to declare Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary to be high-risk areas this Friday, according to information from the Funke media group. As the newspapers report, the classification should come into force on Sunday. However, individual municipalities in Austria should be excluded.
There was initially no official confirmation for this on Thursday evening. The new classifications as high-risk areas are always published on Fridays. The final coordination between the responsible departments of the federal government takes place shortly beforehand.
Countries and regions with a particularly high risk of infection are classified as high-risk areas. But not only the infection numbers are decisive for this. Other criteria are the speed at which the virus is spreading, the burden on the health system or a lack of data on the corona situation.
Anyone who has not been fully vaccinated or has recovered and is traveling from a high-risk area has to be in quarantine for ten days and can only get rid of it after five days with a negative test.
In Austria, the corona numbers have recently increased dramatically. The seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants was 751 on Thursday, almost three times as high as in Germany (249.1), as the authorities announced. The situation in the clinics is also getting worse.
According to information from the Funke media group, individual Austrian municipalities are to be excluded from the classification as a high-risk area. These include Mittelberg, Jungholz, Rissal, Vomp and Eben am Achensee. The incidence has also risen sharply recently in the Czech Republic and Hungary./wn/DP/he
