FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – German government bonds rose noticeably on Thursday. Market observers spoke of a countermovement to the significant losses on the previous day. The trend-setting futures contract, the Euro Bund Future, rose around noon by 0.26 percent to 170.77 points. The yield on ten-year Bunds was minus 0.25 percent.

Yields in many bond markets rose significantly on Wednesday. The trigger was inflation data from the USA. At 6.2 percent, consumer prices rose more sharply in October than they have been in 31 years. The markets are deeply concerned about inflation risks, commented analysts at Commerzbank (Commerzbank share). The high inflation arouses expectations of interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve. Starting from the US bond market, capital market rates rose in other countries as well.
