Drugstore dm with sales plus – online trade is growing

KARLSRUHE (dpa-AFX) – The drugstore company dm increased its sales by 6.5 percent in the past financial year (September 30) thanks to a strong push in online retail. Revenues grew to 12.3 billion euros (previous year: 11.5), announced the Karlsruhe-based company on Thursday. In Germany alone, dm generated more than nine billion euros – an increase of 5.8 percent. The drugstore traditionally does not provide any information on profit.
The drugstore chain is represented in 13 European countries so far – Poland is to be the 14th to be added soon – with more than 3800 branches, of which over 2000 are in Germany. In the 2020/21 financial year, dm invested around 110 million euros in its German branch network; a further 120 million are to follow in the coming months and will be used for renovations and the opening of new stores. / Avg / DP / zb
