Ajax coach ten Hag: ‘Dortmund are still favorites’

Despite the clear success against Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago, Ajax Amsterdam will go into the second Champions League duel on Wednesday (9 p.m. / DAZN) with the Revierclub with great respect.

“For me, Dortmund is still the favorite. I am counting on a different Dortmund. They have a good team and you can expect a reaction after the 4-0 draw,” said coach Eric ten Hag before the final training session in Dortmund on Tuesday evening. “We have to be even better tomorrow than in Amsterdam because Dortmund wants to return the favor.”

With a win, the Dutch champions, who lead the table with nine points in front of BVB (6) and Sporting Lisbon (3), would be in the round of 16. This is one more reason for the coach not to approach the game with purely defensive tactics. “We always play to win. That’s how we approach the game. But there are no gifts. We have to fight back and we have to be smart.”
