TABLE / ECB: Significantly lower PEPP purchases in the previous week

FRANKFURT (Dow Jones) – The bond holdings of the central banks of the Eurosystem as part of the PEPP pandemic purchase program grew significantly more slowly than before in the week ending October 29, 2021. They increased by 8 (previously: 19) billion euros. The European Central Bank (ECB) gave the following figures for the APP program:

* Asset Purchase Program (APP) – The APP holdings are to be increased by 20 billion per month until shortly before the first interest rate hike. National central banks buy public bonds at their own risk, reinvesting principal within a year and for as long as necessary.

** Pandemic Emergency Purchase Program (PEPP) – The PEPP will run until at least the end of March 2022, it has a volume of 1,850 billion euros. National central banks buy public bonds at their own risk, full reinvestment of the principal amounts by the end of 2023. The ECB publishes details every two months.
