DRESDEN (dpa-AFX) – In view of the drastically increasing corona infections, Saxony’s government wants to tighten protective measures and introduce the 2G rule (vaccinated or recovered) for restaurants, indoor events or major events. These are the cornerstones of the new protection ordinance, which the cabinet discussed on Tuesday. The major events also include football games. FFP-2 masks should be mandatory in local public transport.

After a shortened hearing phase, the cabinet wants to make a final decision on Friday. The new regulation is due to come into force next Monday. It is about “prevention in the pandemic,” said Dagmar Neukirch, State Secretary in the Ministry of Social Affairs. Otherwise you would have to declare an emergency if the hospitals are overloaded./jos/DP/jha
