Yucatán has the lowest unemployment rate in the country
At the end of September this year, Yucatan registered the lowest unemployment rate in the country, with 1.81% of its economically active population (EAP), situation that occurs for the first time in the last 14 months.
In fact, considering a period of 201 months (just under 17 years), the Mexican southeast entity shows that on 11 occasions it held this place, according to data from the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
Compared to September 2020, Yucatán reduced its unemployment rate by 2.65 percentage points, when it was placed at 4.45% of its EAP.
One of the factors behind this result is its recovery in the formal market, after the damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to information from the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), between September 2020 and the same month in 2021, the state generated 25,472 jobs, while in relation to February of last year, before the health contingency began, it registered a creation of 3 thousand 823 insured jobs.
It is important to note that the employed population considers formal and informal, but the monthly ENOE at the state level only publishes the employment rate. The rate of labor informality in the Yucatecan territory reached 61.4% of its employed at the end of last June, so that of every 10 jobs created, 6 could be informal.
At the other end he positioned himself Mexico City as the entity, for the fifth consecutive month, with the highest unemployment rate, despite the fact that it was one of the entities that reduced this indicator the most, going from 10.26% of its EAP in September 2020 to 6.70% in the same period of this year.
This recovery is observed in its formal sector, already between the aforementioned period it created 36 thousand 545 jobs insured in the IMSS, however, if it is compared against February 2020, it still lacks 161 thousand 8756 jobs. Its informality rate is around 47.11% of those employed.
Yucatán was followed, with the lowest unemployment rates, by Hidalgo (1.94% of its EAP), Guerrero (1.95%), Oaxaca (1.96%), Morelos (2.32%), Sinaloa (2.39%), Chiapas (2.56%). ), Colima (2.9%), Michoacán (2.70%), Baja California (2.87%) and Zacatecas (2.96 percent).
Campeche (3.07%) were located in the 3-4% range, Jalisco (3.13%), Chihuahua (3.15%), Nayarit (3.20%), San Luis Potosí (3.47%), Veracruz (3.59%), Tamaulipas (3.67%), Sonora (3.77%) and Querétaro (3.91 percent).
While the group with rates higher than 4% and lower than 6% was made up of Nuevo León (4.23%), Durango (4.45%), Aguascalientes (4.63%), Baja California Sur (4.89%), Puebla (4.94%), Quintana Roo (5.11%), Coahuila (5.29%) and Guanajuato (5.71 percent).
Finally, the entities with relationships greater than 6% were Estado de México (6.06%), Tlaxcala (6.15%), Tabasco (6.59%) and Mexico City (6.70 percent).
If the unemployment rate is compared with the data for September of last year, it turns out that 26 subnationals presented reductions.
The steepest declines in this labor market indicator occurred in Queretaro (-6.68 percentage points, going from 10.59 to 3.91% of its EAP), Quintana Roo (-4.85 points; from 9.96 to 5.11%), Nayarit (-4.08 points; from 7.28 to 3.20%), Sinaloa (-3.94 points; from 6.32 to 2.39%), Mexico City (-3.56 points; from 10.26 to 6.70%) and Sonora (-3.04 points; from 6.82 to 3.77 percent).
The foregoing shows that these entities had the greatest dynamism in the job recovery process, unlike the six states that increased their unemployment in one year, which continue to worsen their labor market.
These territories were Michoacán (increase of 1.11 percentage points, as the unemployment rate went from 1.59% of its EAP at the end of the ninth month of 2020, to 2.70% in September 2021), Tamaulipas (+0.93 points; from 2.74 to 3.67 %), San Luis Potosí (+0.67 points; from 2.80 to 3.47%), Hidalgo (+0.52 points; from 1.42 to 1.94%), Baja California (+0.40 points; from 2.47 to 2.87%) and Tlaxcala (+0.28 points ; from 5.87 to 6.15 percent).
